Volcanoes national park is home to Mountain Gorilla (Gorilla beringei beringei); golden monkeys (Cercopithecus mitis kandti), Spotted Hyena (Crocuta crocuta), buffaloes (Syncerus caffer), elephants, black-fronted duiker (Cephalophus niger), and bushbuck (Tragelaphus scriptus). You can find an abundant numbers of bird species which numbers around 178 out of which 29 are endemics to Rwenzori Mountains and the Virungas. Located in a small village called Musanze, the place is easly accessible by land, it is about 2 hours drive from Kigali.
Volcanoes National Park, situated in the furthest northwest of Rwanda, masterminded on the raised inclines of Volcanoes Mountain is the home of the gambled mountain gorilla and a rich mosaic of montane natural systems, which include evergreen and bamboo timberland, open prairie, marsh, and heath. Volcanoes National Park is named after the chain of moderate volcanoes making up the Virunga Massif: Karisimbi – the most imperative at 4,507m, Bisoke with its flourishing carter lake, Sabinyo, Gahinga, and Muhabura. As its name recommends this zone is volcanic and uneven and this gives the extraordinary eco-framework that is home to some incomprehensible wildlife and certainly the most astonishing viewpoint.
Volcanoes National Park is regarded for it gorilla trekking attempts that enable you to encounter the gorillas close for that most essential and compensating learning. There are 11 habituated gorilla families in the park and you can meet – Susa, Amahoro, Sabyinyo, Uganda, Hirwa, Umubano, Karisimbi, to give a couple of points of reference, while on the trek.
