Tarangire is one of the most famous National Parks in the northern circuit of Tanzania, offering a wealth of wildlife and unique flora and fauna all within easy proximity to Arusha and Kilimanjaro airport. The park is surprisingly large, providing superb game viewing and a must-see for its elephant migration, birding and authentic safari atmosphere. During the dry season high concentrations of animals can be seen on the riverbeds, offering a spectacular scene. You can find a range of large mammals such as the zebra, buffalo, and gazelle, mingling with rare species such as eland and Oryx, all within reach of waiting predators such as lions, leopards and hyenas. Python can be seen climbing into the shade of the trees that line Tarangire’s massive southern swamps and hang like giant malignant fruit, coiled neatly over the branches into a perfect sphere. Tarangire comes under the Serengeti eco-system with a vast array of baobab trees, flowing river and feisty young bulls and tiny, stumbling calves are ever present to fascinate visitors with their will, intelligence and majesty. The best time to visit Tarangire for wildlife viewing and walking safaris is the dry season, from June to October.
