Lake Kivu is among the Great Lakes of Africa. It lies on the edge between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda, and is in the Albertine (western) Rift, a touch of the Great Rift Valley. Lake Kivu discharges into the Ruzizi River, which streams southwards into Lake Tanganyika.
Lake Kivu is besides one of the world's single 3 exploding lakes.
