Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe & Transfer to Hotel

One World Observatory

Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be greeted by our professional guide. After a warm welcome and brief introduction, enjoy a refreshing bottle of mineral water as you head to your hotel. Relax and unwind in the serene surroundings of 2Friends Beach Hotel. This charming lakeside hotel offers stunning views of Lake Victoria, perfect for birdwatching. Your overnight accommodation is on a Full Board basis, providing you with delicious meals throughout the day.

Enjoy a relaxing evening before the birding adventures begin. This peaceful setting allows you to settle in comfortably before the exciting days ahead.

One World Observatory

After breakfast, enjoy an early start with a birding tour at the Entebbe Botanical Gardens, known for its diverse bird species like the Blue Turaco and African Jacana. Continue your birdwatching adventure at the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC), where you’ll observe waterfowl, and migratory birds along Lake Victoria’s shores. The lush green landscapes and wetland areas provide an excellent opportunity for spotting various species.

After a fulfilling day of birding, head back to your hotel for a delicious dinner and rest. Your full board meals will be served in the hotel’s serene restaurant.

Mabamba Swamp

One World Observatory

Day three starts with a hearty breakfast before embarking on a Mabamba Swamp birding tour. Famous for its population of the Shoebill Stork, this marshland offers fantastic birding opportunities. Besides the Shoebill, expect to spot African Swamphen, White-faced Whistling Duck, and numerous waterfowl species. After lunch, explore the surrounding wetlands and forests, keeping an eye out for rare species. In the afternoon, relax with a boat ride through the swamp for a closer look at the abundant birdlife.

Return to your accommodation for the evening. Dinner will be served at the hotel, allowing you to reflect on the day’s discoveries.

One World Observatory

After an early breakfast, transfer to Lake Mburo National Park, one of Uganda’s hidden birding gems. Known for its papyrus birds, you’ll spot species such as Papyrus Gonolek, White-winged Tit, and Black-bellied Bustard. Enjoy a boat ride on Lake Mburo, where you’ll observe an impressive variety of waterfowl, including Great White Egret and African Fish Eagle. A guided nature walk along the lakeside will provide additional birding opportunities. After a day of exploration, enjoy dinner at your lodge, where you’ll stay overnight.

Rise early and enjoy breakfast before heading to Queen Elizabeth National Park, renowned for its diverse ecosystems and birdlife. Birdwatchers will enjoy spotting species like the Grey Crowned Crane, Yellow-billed Stork, and African Jacana along the park’s lakes and wetlands. You’ll also witness the spectacle of birds soaring above the Kazinga Channel, a popular spot for waterfowl and migratory species. With a game drive and birdwatching, the park’s varied landscapes offer unique birding opportunities.

Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner, and relax in the comfort of your accommodations.

One World Observatory

Continue your birding adventure with a full day of exploration in Queen Elizabeth National Park. This region, known for its wetlands, savannah, and forested areas, hosts a wide variety of birds. Look out for African Skimmer, Whiskered Tern, and African Marsh Harrier. You’ll also have the chance to spot endemic species and enjoy the sight of large flocks of Ibises and Flamingos. Lunch will be enjoyed at the lodge, followed by an afternoon boat ride along the Kazinga Channel, a prime birdwatching location. Return to your lodge in the evening for a restful dinner.

After a final breakfast in the park, enjoy a leisurely game drive as you make your way back to Kampala or Entebbe. As you travel, take in the stunning landscapes and spot any last bird species along the way. Stop at various points for brief birding walks before arriving at your destination. In the afternoon, explore the local area for any final birding opportunities or enjoy some free time to relax. Your guide will ensure a smooth and comfortable return to Entebbe, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel or the airport for departure.
