At your hotel, enjoy a comfortable stay with half-board accommodation including dinner. The steep ascent challenges climbers while offering stunning views of the Kilimanjaro slopes. Hike approximately 11 km (7 miles) over 5–6 hours, gaining altitude from 5,450 ft to 9,350 ft. Arrive at Umbwe Camp (2,900 m / 9,514 ft), where your crew sets up comfortable tent accommodation and prepares a full-board meal plan.

The climb is challenging but manageable, covering about 6 km (4 miles) over 4–5 hours and reaching 3,960 m (12,992 ft) at Barranco Camp. The route transitions from forest to heathland, highlighting the Umbwe Route’s diverse ecosystems.

At camp, your crew provides a hearty full-board meal, and you rest in spacious tents while acclimatizing. This stage prepares climbers for the iconic Barranco Wall and higher alpine desert terrain, ensuring a safer summit attempt.

Start the day with breakfast before climbing the famous Barranco Wall, a thrilling non-technical scramble offering breathtaking vistas of Kilimanjaro’s southern glaciers. Continue trekking through alpine desert terrain, covering 5 km (3 miles) over 4–5 hours, and reach Karanga Camp at 4,035 m (13,238 ft). The route provides spectacular views of ridges and valleys while allowing gradual acclimatization to higher altitudes.

Enjoy a hot full-board meal prepared by your mountain crew and rest in tents at Karanga Camp. The short trekking distance helps climbers conserve energy for the next day’s ascent to Barafu Camp and the summit push, ensuring higher success rates.

Barafu Camp serves as the high camp, offering panoramic views of Kibo Peak and surrounding glaciers. Enjoy a nutritious full-board meal and rest early in your tent. Guides provide final summit preparations, including hydration, layering, and trekking pole checks.

Continue down to Mweka Camp (3,100 m / 10,171 ft) covering about 5 km (3 miles) in 7–8 hours.
