On arrival at the airport or harbour, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Stone Town. Overnight at the hotel on Bed and breakfast basis.
After breakfast depart for a guided tour of Stone Town. This tour commences with a visit to Zanzibar’s colourful market. On you way tothe cathedral built in 1874, youwill encounter buzzing locals bartering for fresh vegetables, baskets piled high with tropical fruits creating a sensory overload of sights and sweet smells. The cathedral signifies a poignant time in Zanzibar’s history and is the site of the island’s historic slave market, with its high altar standing on the exact site of the whipping post. By passing a decree the Sultan of Zanzibar had abolished slavery in 1873. From the cathedral visit the residence of the late Sultans of Zanzibar, ‘Tip Tip House’, the Old Fort, ‘Peoples Place’ and the House of Wonders’, which are full of intrigue and vivid history from a bygone era. The tour ends with a stroll through the narrow streets of the old stone town, the heart of Zanzibar’s checkered history and time for you to browse Zanzibar’s unique souvenir shops. Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, with a selection of local and European cuisines. At 1500hrs catch a boat trip to Prison Island, the former prison for slaves and quarantine station for Zanzibar, this intriguing little island is a worthwhile experience where you can encounter giant tortoises in the wild. Dinner is at a local restaurant, before returning to your hotel for an overnight.
After breakfast transfer to Mangapwani village. Visit of the slave caves and chambers. Lunch at Mangapwani Serena Restaurant, located on the outskirts of Zanzibar stone town. If you are looking for something special, then Serena Mangapwani and Water Sports Centre are perfect. Visitors to Mangapwani are offered a fresh seafood barbecue, cooked to perfection by Serena’s expert team of chefs. You will find restaurants comprising of a series of traditional Makuti bandas, each overlooking to an idyllic beach. At additional costs guests can also enjoy fishing, snorkeling, kayaking, catamaran rides and other pleasant excursions at the well-equipped watersports centre. Late in the afternoon, drive back to stone town. Overnight at the hotel in Stone town.
After breakfast transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
