  • Day 1: NAIROBI TO MT. KENYA

We shall start our Kenya Prime Birding Tour from Nairobi. On this day we shall drive to the Kenyan highlands enjoying birding stop-overs on the way. We shall progressively head towards Mt. Kenya forest. We shall arrive at our destination in good time to scan the forest for the local birdlife. Montane mammals are likely, including monkeys, antelopes, mongooses, genets, pigs, hogs, Savannah Elephants and Cape buffalo. Overnight at Mt. Kenya.

  • Day 2: MT. KENYA TO LAKE BARINGO

We shall start the day with more birding in Mt. Kenya; as we seek species we may have missed the previous day. We shall later continue our Kenya Prime Birding Tour to the Rift Valley, leaving the highlands behind. We shall make several stops on the way to enjoy more birding. Soon, we shall arrive at Lake Baringo, a fresh water lake at the heart of the Rift Valley. We shall enjoy birding here this afternoon.Overnight in Baringo.

  • Day 3: FULL DAY LAKE BARINGO

A boat ride experience early in the morning will help us enjoy one of the iconic moments of our Kenya Prime Birding Tour. This will help you enjoy the beauty of the lake and see the local African Fish Eagles advertising their territories as they hunt too. Later, we continue enjoying the terrestrial birds of Baringo. Our target will be to add species we may have missed the previous day.Overnight in Baringo.

  • Day 4 and 5: KAKAMEGA FOREST

This time will be spent exploring Kakamega forest, a remnant of the Guineo-Congolian Equatorial forest. Species diversity here is plenty and we shall hope to have a huge addition to our Kenya Prime Birding Tour birdlist. We shall spend time walking in the forest in search of local specialties, with breaks in between. The forest is also great with different unique monkeys, antelopes and squirrel species.Overnight in Kakamega.

  • Day 6: LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK

This park is famed as the birdwatchers' paradise, and indeed was the first national park in Africa to be set up with an avian conservation objective. This is indeed one of the highlight locations on our Kenya Prime Birding Tour. Up to a million flamingos have been recorded in this park depending on their regional migration. Most of these are Lesser Flamingos with Greater Flamingos making a smaller population. Other birds will be seen including some special species for this area; and Palearctic water migrants being abundant in the right season. The park is also a great sanctuary for rhinos; and hosts four members of the Big Five (Leopard, Cape Buffalo, Black Rhino, African Lion). These may be encountered as we move around the park. Other mammals will be seen, especially herds of grazing herbivores; and the Rothschild's Giraffe. We shall have an early start from the hotel in the morning and drive straight to Nakuru. We shall spend the day birding in the park. Overnight inNakuru.

  • Day 7 to 9: MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE

On the first morning, we shall enjoy birding in Nakuru, hoping to add a few more species to our Kenya Prime Birding Tour birdlist. We shall then proceed to the Masai Mara, where we shall arrive at our lodge in the afternoon. Birding stops on the way will likely produce some new species. The next days will see us scout the vast Masai Mara, in search of the local birds and mammals. Described by many as the top reserve in Kenya, this area will have lots to offer from the Big Five, herds of grazing mammals, to the amazing birdlife. The magical Annual Wildebeest Migration is also a spectacle that has made the area very famous. Birding will likely be busy with several transects across this vast savannah. This area is often the crown of our Kenya Prime Birding Tour. Overnight in Mara.

  • Day 10: MASAI MARA GAME RESERVE TO NAIROBI

On this day we shall head back to Nairobi with a few birding stops on the way. We shall enjoy lunch at a local restaurant sampling some of the best local dishes and barbecues. If your flights home are in the late evening hours, we may choose to explore a few sites and attractions around Nairobi. We shall then take an airport transfer for your flights home, marking the end to our safari.

  • Day 00: AIRPORT DEPARTURE
